Saturday — July 27th
This was a Summit ET Series race featuring the TV Challenge Wally trophies for Super, Pro, and Sportsman class winners. We got going early with our Junior Dragster class right at 9:30 am on cooler, drier day than what have been living with lately. There were 22 entries, Cole Rudy who was set on kill all day won out over Dakota Henry. Gage Cramer took third place. At 11:30 am the big cars took over and in the 65 car Pro field it was Billy Stotler over Dylan Moore. Mike and Courtney Upole were the semi drivers. Super had a good turn out, Todd Welzel beat Dylan Moore, third place was taken by Brian Morrison. Sportsman was won by Jim Berry over David Myers, Kevin Grasson took third. The Outlaw Pontiac class had 20 entries. Wayne Skelly won over Lester Hotzapple, Dave Roarity and Jeff Mason were the semi racers. Lastly Trophy was won by Mike Bonnano over Donnie Myers. We finished by 6:40 pm. 176 cars raced today, great show.
Sunday — July 28th
This was another Summit ET Series race featuring the running for King of the Track honors. Junior Dragsters got going at 9:30 am on a slightly warmer but still decent day. We had 21 entries with Harley Ely winning over Shelby Nick and Dakota Henry taking third place. Now the big cars, they got underway at 11:30 am. In Pro it was points leader Scott Drayer over Dylan Moore, Wayne Skelly was third. Super Pro had Joe Martz over Dave Slusher, Steve Whitman was third. Sportsman was won by Carlos DeJesus over David Myers. We than ran a best package Bogey style race with all class winners including the Junior Dragster winner. This deal was close but Carlos DeJesus had the best package and got the King of the Track Wally. We finished up just about 5 pm.
Notes on the weekend. Great, close racing both days. A huge thanks to Mike and Heather Boyd and Matco Tools for paying for the 11 Junior Dragster buybacks on Saturday, it totaled $220.00, very generous and nice too. The track was again spot on. From the 4.40 ET cars to the slowest, all the cars hooked hard and drove straight. We nearly had no cleanups or mishaps though Cory Hess did lose a driveshaft later on Sunday. How about Billy Stotler’s way overdue Saturday Pro win. Great job Billy. Dylan Moore ran both Pro and Super on Saturday, runner upped in both classes then runner upped again on Sunday in Pro. The Outlaw Pontiac gang ran race #5 with 20 entries, good close racing too. Ok, this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday are SBRA points races. Should be fun. See you this weekend at Mason Dixon Dragway!
