Friday  —  July 12th
This was a Friday night Test & Tune event that had a much less than anticipated turnout of racers. No doubt again the weather was an issue, not high temps but rain showers were all around us as specially to the east of the track. Those that were here made plenty of passes for sure. We finished up right at 10 pm.
Saturday  —  July 13th
This was a Street Nite event that got underway at 3 pm. Now it got hot, temps in the upper 90’s and humid though in the early evening it did get a good bit cooler. The Nasty 9’s had 9 cars entered with index set at 9.95 in the 1/4 mile. John Moser took the win over Steve Kurimchak, Dan Ryntz was third. Our Quick 16 class had for the second race in a row, Darlene Staub winning out over Rick Myers. The semi racers were Mike Shoop and Kevin Benedict. Darlene was set on kill, ran the number every round, was .001 in the semis and .010 in the final as Rick was barely red. Great racing by all in Quick 16. The 6.50 Index had Eric Bowles over Robert Brooks, Denny Cooper was third. The 7.10 Index class father against son in the final. Bruce Suders beat his son Garrett Suders in the final. In Pro Josh “Shorty” Sisk over Joe Cooper III. Josh was driving his dads 67 Chevelle that has just been reborn after it had been parked for the last 15 years! In Sportsman it was Glen Estelle over Mike Cleary. Drive-In Street was won by Joe Cooper II over Kellen Stone. We finished up about 8:30. This event had less racers and race fans than usual, we’re going to blame it on the heat, this has been a tough year weatherwise with lots of rain in the Spring and now scorching Summer heat, We need a break. Oh despite the hot weather and very high track temps, over 140 degrees, the track held up really well, cars hooked hard all day / night long. Track staff in all positions did a great job both day!
This Friday night is a Test & Tune event and then on Saturday and Sunday the Mid Atlantic .90 racers with Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street plus our Pro and Super classes will race in this event. This is the first visit by Rob Keister’s Mid Atlantic .90 racers. This should be an entertaining race. See you this weekend at Mason Dixon Dragway!
