Saturday. — May 3rd
This was the 41st annual Mid-Atlantic Mopar meet and drag race. Once again the weather played into this event. Aside from two very light brief sprinkles we really had an excellent day for the event. We started right on time at 10am with all the racers making two time runs. In Pro which was the biggest class the winner Kevin Grasson over Brian Henry. Super was won by Kaleb Kline over Darlene Staub, this was a close one, both racers had teen lights. Well done. Street class had Bob Calimer over Sean Herrick. Finally Trophy was won by Mark Kalisz over Sean Herrick. Good close racing by all and many these cars were fast and show car quality too. There was a decent turnout of show cars, vendors and show car / race fans too. Yes a bad all week long forecast of foul weather hurt the turnout some for sure. How does Mason Dixon Dragway owner management team look at weather forecasts. Ok we see the same stuff as everybody else does BUT we wait to the very early morning of any race day to make a decision to open or cancel. If it appears to be chance of showers we attempt to open. If it’s raining and appears to be an all day rain we cancel. We operate on the optimistic side, some venues not so much. We would like to thank all the participants today, show car people, racers and crew members and all our great fans that support us year in and year out! Let’s not forget team Mason Dixon owners, staff and our great sponsors. All do great work to make our race programs fun and entertaining. This Saturday is the second Street Nite event of this season, see you Saturday at Mason Dixon Dragway!
