Friday — Oct 4th
This was a well attended Friday night Test & Tune event that got underway right at 6 pm. We had a good turnout with about 90 entries and a good number of race fans. The weather was really good, all three days, lots of sun, no rain and temps around 70 degrees or so. The track prep was excellent as usual. We did have one big track cleanup from a coolant hose failure. This one took awhile to handle but then it was back to racing. Having all the right equipment and a great staff to do the work really helps get us back up and running as quickly as possible, good work gang! One of our food stand staffers came back from a couple of months off from health issues tonight….welcome back Doug! We ran just a bit long, we finished up at about 10;10 pm.
Saturday — Oct 5th
Another very well attended Street Nite for sure. We had 171 entries in the eleven classes and a good turn out of race fans too. We got underway right at 2pm with all classes getting two time shots. How about the MD275 drag radial cars. In the final Jack Williamson in his Chevy Nova won the class with a 5.02 @ 142 mph over Charlie Booze in his Mustang who went 5.10 @ 131 mph. Chris Hamby took third spot. All the cars in this class hooked hard on every pass from start to finish. Jack Williamson had the best 60 ft. time also, a 1.13 in the final. Modern Muscle had Dylan Stultz in a wicked Dodge Charger win over Joe Stanley in his Demon 170, Greg Orris took third place. Nasty Nines set their index at a fast 9.75 with Charlie Booze winning over Jason Henry, Steve Kurimchak took third third. The fast field of Quick 16 had Lee Chronister who was number 16 qualifier won over the number one car of Doug Farace. Tracey Stroup and Lucien Payne were the semi racers. This was team Chronisters first Quick 16 win! The second Quick 16 group had Sean Coffee winning over Frank Howell, Derek Dellinger and Jeremy Hammond were the semi finalists. 5.90 Index winner was Dave Slusher over Chip Mahon. 6.50 Index had Denny Cooper winning again over Nathan Jacobson. The 7.10 Index group had Bruce Suders over Danny Custer. Pro was won by Nathan Englar over Roger Bard who broke on the starting line. Sportsman winner was Mike Bonnano over Dave Toms. Lastly Drive-In Street winner was Keith Custer over Chris Waters. We finished up about 9:30 pm. Some notes on this event. We had another dynamite track as all the cars hooked hard and went straight. How about Doug Farace, his supercharged Vette was low Et and Mph with a 4.48 @ 157 mph pass. Though only six MD275 drag radial cars, they all ran hard every pass. Quick 16 had 40 entries to make the two 16 car fields. All the classes had a good amount of entries. Thanks again goes to Steve Dickey who did a good bit of announcing, Great job Steve! A big shout out to Josh McCoy Auto Sales, Chesapeake Auto Detailing and Storage for sponsoring this event! Lastly we thank all that attended, racers, crew and family members, our track sponsors and especially all of our great race fans.
