Friday  —  May 24th
This was well attended Test & Tune event running from 6 pm til just passed 10pm, a warm up to the Memorial Day weekend Summit / SBRA races. We had 130 cars, bikes and Junior Dragsters making passes all evening long. Many of the weekend racers were already here when I pulled in at 4 pm and more rolled in all evening too.
Saturday  —  May 25th
Ok, follow me on this one. The Junior Dragsters kicked things off getting underway right at 11:30 am sharp. We had 29 racers and in the end Bella Henry took the win over Gavin Cramer, Cole Rudy and Garrett Cramer were the semi racers. Just at 2:30 pm the Pro cars took the track followed by Super, Sportsman, Trophy and Test & Tune all making their one qualifying time run. Around 5 pm we had a brief but hard rain shower, with a very warm track surface and staff going after the drying process we were back up and running. We managed to get 115 Pro cars down in Round one and the half way through Super, a 128 car field it started to rain, then it just poured, by then there was no way to dry the track and resume racing, we called it a day about 8:30 pm. We would start back up the next day where we left off.
Sunday  —  May 26th
Now for a huge day of racing. No time runs for anybody. We started where we left off and completed the 311 car field of race cars by 4:10 pm. In Super Scotty Bodmer took the win over Dan Ravenscroft, Laury McGowin Jr. and Andy Dolan were the semi drivers. Pro was won by Brandon Michaels over Boyd Mathias, Kevin Mendenhall took third. Sportsman had Ed Talbert over David Myers, Dave Toms was third. Trophy winner was Jason Burries over Cody Johnson. That finished Saturday, now we ran Sunday’s event, no time runs, straight to round one. Junior Dragsters had 31 entries, in the final Jackson Greiner won over Nazair Wallace, Paisley Anderson and Bella Henry took the semi spots. Super was won by Dale Jackson over Andy Dolan, Dahrl Clark and Steve Gosnell were the semifinalists. Pro was won by Steve Dustin Jr. over Keith Peiffer Tony Bonnano took third. Sportsman was won by Mike Garber over David Myers, Richard Chandler was third. Trophy winner was Josh Sisk over Jo Jo Mallow. We finished up just after 8:30 pm.
What a weekend! Ok, how about Monday? The weather forecasts called for storms on and off all day and so early evening on Sunday we cancelled the Monday portion of the event, a good call, hit and miss rain showers were all around us, many made the decision to head home after Sunday night racing ended. We ran nearly 500 cars and most of two days of racing in 12 hours. We couldn’t have done it with out great cooperation of our racers and track staff / management, Well done!
A huge thanks to all that participated, racers, crew and family members, sponsors and to our dedicated race fans, thanks for your support of racing at Mason Dixon Dragway. This Saturday a morning / afternoon we have a Flea Market and at 5pm a Test & Tune til 10 pm. Sunday is the big “Run What You Brung” race and Outlaw Pontiac event. See you this weekend at Mason Dixon Dragway!
