Saturday  —  August 24th
This was a Test & Tune night event that ran from 6pm to 10pm. The weather was great, temps in the 70’s and no rain. We had a great turnout of race cars, just over 100 and many race fans too. Many were here making test passes for the next days 27th  Annual Mid Maryland Ford Meet. We had no issues, minimal down time and a really fast race track too. Oh, and the new lighting, it’s terrific, the whole place is just lit up nearly like broad daylight. Another Mason Dixon Dragway track improvement for all that come to the track. How about our former Racers for Christ chaplain Bill Smith driving Jason Day’s fast 67 Mercury Comet. Bill ran 6.20s @ 108 mph on several passes. Great event everybody! Well done!
Sunday  —  August 25th
This was a big one, the 27th Annual Mid Maryland Ford Event. A lot of stuff going on, the show cars rolled in extra early with 130 entries, there were a good amount of vendors setting up and the drag racers were getting parked and teched in for the racing that got underway right at 11:30 am. Both our food stands opened extra early with hot coffee and breakfast sandwiches for everyone. The drag racing got underway with all four classes getting two time runs. At the break before round one, Bill Smith performed the invocation and then Bill’s wife Toni, via a recording, sang our National Anthem. Pro was the biggest class with seven rounds of competition and in the end Steve Price won out over Joe Cooper, Bobby Smith was third. Super Pro was won by Dennis Hammond over George Hoff. Sportsman was won by Christopher Walters over Mathew Pryor. Trophy class had Justin Wood over Steven Morgan. Thoughts on the weekend. We had great turnouts both days of racers and race fans. Seeing Bill Smith out racing for the first time in about 3 years and performing a chapel service and the invocation right before eliminations was really a treat. Thanks Bill!! Track staff did great giving us hard hooking and safe racing race track. Linda Cline and the entire food stand staff kept after the demands of long lines of customers all day long. Birthdays…..Jasmine in the ticket booth turned16 and Jake our track manager got a year older. Seemed like an overall well run and attended Ford Event. We finished up about 5:30 pm. This weekend, four days of drag racing, test & Tune Friday night and SBRA bracket racing Saturday, Sunday and Labor Day Monday. See you at Mason Dixon Dragway this weekend!
