Saturday — August 10th
This was a really good Street Nite event, the weather, for once, was a non issue. We got started right on time at 4 pm. Let’s start with the Nasty 9’s group first. Eight cars entered and the Index was set at 9.85. Dan Ryntz took the win over Jason Henry in real close final. The Quick 16 group had 22 entries and after the two qualifiers the bump spot was a quick 5.56. In the finals it was the two quickest cars with many time winner Jerry Williams over John Moton. Marcus Henry and Darlene Staub were the semi racers. How about Darlene Staub, though not getting past the semis today counting the last two races that she won, her win streak of rounds won ended with ten. Very difficult to win ten straight rounds in our Quick 16 races, well done. The 5.90 Index was won by Dan Shaffer over Fred Shipley III. The 6.50 Index group had 25 entries with really close runs but in the end it was Denny Cooper over Joey Harrison. The 7.10 Index racers had Brad Hake over Joe Maggetti Jr. The Pro class had Jess Goodman over Ted Leatherwood. Sportsman winner was Harli Myers over Mike Cleary. Scott Sease won the Drive-In Street class. We had a great track, many very close and well run races and a decent turnout of racers and race fans. An overall good event. We finished up at about 11 pm.
Sunday — August 11th
This was a Test & Tune event that got underway right at 11:30 am that was well attended and yes the weather was great, mostly sunny and temps in the low 80’s, not bad at all for mid August. We had 90+ cars, bikes and Junior Dragsters and Junior Street cars making many passes. We ran a no entry fee 1/8th mile $500.00 to win drag race that 57 racers entered. How about Rocky Moore jumping in Kevin Moore’s Cuda and he ran the table winning over Earl Lapole. We finished up about 4:30 pm. We want to thank all that participated in this weekends events, racers, family and crew members and lastly our dedicated race fans! Thanks for hanging out with us. Alright, Test & Tune Friday night, The big VW event on Saturday. There is a rain date if needed, the VW race would be moved to Sunday, hopefully we won’t need to do that. See you at Mason Dixon Dragway this coming weekend!
