Saturday  —  August 3rd
This was a two day SBRA event plus the Outlaw Pontiacs running on Sunday. Once again the weather was key player in this race. We got underway with our Junior Dragsters right at 12 noon. It was warm and real muggy as our Junior Dragsters got underway. There were 17 cars racing along with Atlee Roberts doing Test & Tune passes. Once again, just like last Saturday it was Cole Rudy over Gavin Cramer in the final, Cole Huth and Bella Henry were the semi finalists. Now the big cars took the track right at 2:30 pm. By then it got cloudy, radar had storms and rain all around us but we stayed dry…..for awhile. We got the qualifying passes done and made and most of round one. Light sprinkles and a light shower caused the rain delays and then finally after third round we got hit a heavy rain shower and that ended the day. We got things down to 17 Pro and 10 Super cars that split the purse, Our staff made the right calls and did great re-prepping after each delay. Well done Mason Dixon staff and also we thank racers for being patient as we tried get this race in the books. Mother Nature finished us off about 6:15 pm or so.
Sunday  —  August 4th
This time though very warm and real humid weather greeted our racers, we got through the day pretty well. Junior Dragsters were right on time with the first cars on the track at 9:30 am. We had 17 entries again and once again Cole Rudy won over Braelin Bowie. Gavin Cramer took third spot. Cole Rudy has won three of the last four races in the last two weeks, He is red hot right now. The big cars got underway right at 11:30am with the Outlaw Pontiac gang. Mike Clay won out over Wayne Skelly with Steve Dress and Jeff Raff were the semi racers. Pro was the biggest class and today Dylan Moore won out over Travis Hill and Dave Slusher took third place. Remember last weekend Dylan Moore had three runner up finishes but today he was a winner. Super Pro had a great final, Dale Jackson won over Mark Coover, Charlotte Mallow was third. We finished up about 5:45 pm. I forgot, we did get a brief rain shower around 2 pm. which caused a short delay. Great racing today and a decent turnout of racers too!
There were birthdays in the house over the weekend, Elmer Wachter, Fred Johns, Mike Moore and Angie our timing system specialist all got a year older, pleasant thought for sure. Great job by our track staff giving us a good working and safe race track through the rain delays. How about Street Nite this Saturday and Test & Tune days Friday night and Sunday. See you at Mason Dixon Dragway this weekend!
