Saturday  —  April 20th
This was a 3k to win Pro / Sportsman No Box race along with the second Outlaw Pontiac race. Weather was great, temps in the low 60’s and a light breeze. We got underway right at 11:30 am with the Outlaw Pontiacs. We had a 16 car field with Mike Clay getting a big win over Jeff Mason, Chuck Hutzler and Bruce Garber were the semi racers. Oh, great to have Jeff Hielman racing with us today, first time in six years as he has moved to central Virginia area, a long hike from us. For the Pro / Sportsman race we had 104 entries. They were allowed to double enter and some did so. At the end a double entered racer Mark Brewer ended up having to run himself in the semi final then pair up with Dave Miller in the final. Dave won out, they did move some money so both had a great day, Mark ended up third and runner up. Quite a day for both. We finished up at 6:10 pm.
Sunday  —  April 21st
This was a Test & Tune event with 80 entries on a very cloudy and colder day, temps in the low 50’s. We had the usual no entry fee Gamblers race with 38 entered, in the end Joe Martz in his S-10 Chevy truck winning over Nathan Jacobson in his 78 Camaro, close race too, Cole Whipp was third. The winner take all paid $500.00. Chase Norton completed his license runs in Steve Whitman’s dragster, well done there. Ben Hitchcock also got most of his license runs done today driving Roy Pool’s dragster. An overall good day, we finished up just after 3:30 pm.
A very big welcome back to Butch Long after long absence from us. He now has retired as a big rig truck driver and now has time be back with us. Butch will do tech in the first part of race day and also announce with me as the racing gets underway. It will be a pleasure to work with him this year. We also had Steve Dickey with us, he helped announce too, he does a great job, it’s never a dull moment when he’s here for sure. Next week, the first Street Nite Saturday and a Test & Tune on Sunday. See you at Mason Dixon Dragway this weekend!
